# How to verify a social account with a bio code

A [bio code](https://satt.com/guides/glossary#bio-code) proves you control a social account without the network’s sign-in: SaTT gives you a one-time code such as `SATT-7K2Q9`, you paste it into the account’s public bio, and SaTT re-reads the profile. The code is valid for 15 minutes and can be checked up to 10 times; it works on YouTube, X, TikTok and Instagram, not on LinkedIn.

## When should you use a bio code?

The official connection ([OAuth](https://satt.com/guides/glossary#oauth)) is always preferred and shown first. Use a bio code when that connection is not available to you, for example:

- TikTok, whose official login is still in sandbox mode (test accounts only) during the alpha.
- Instagram or Facebook, whose official login is limited to app testers until Meta’s review is complete.
- You prefer not to grant any OAuth permission.

A bio-code proof counts as verified everywhere on SaTT and shows as “Verified (profile code)”.

## How do you verify with a bio code, step by step?

1. **Open the network card** — In [Account settings](https://satt.com/account) or the [creator setup](https://satt.com/onboarding), choose “Can’t connect? Verify with a bio code” on the network you want. The link only appears where SaTT can read that network’s bio.
2. **Enter your username** — Type your handle (for example `@yourname`) and press **Get my code**.
3. **Paste the code in your public bio** — Copy the code and add it to the public bio of that account, then save. The exact place is shown on screen (see the table below).
4. **Check within 15 minutes** — Press **I’ve added it — check**. SaTT reads your public profile and links the handle as verified.
5. **Clean up** — Once verified, you can remove the code from your bio.

## What if the check fails?

- **“Code not found”**: make sure the profile is public, the bio is saved and you pasted the exact code. Wait a minute and check again (up to 10 checks per code).
- **“Code expired”**: 15 minutes have passed. Ask for a new code.
- **“Already verified by another SaTT account”**: one handle can belong to one SaTT account only. Contact support if this account is yours.

### Does a bio code make me a Verified creator?

Not on its own. The Verified creator badge needs at least one network verified by its official connection; bio-code networks then count as verified alongside it.
